Project Wrap-Up

Creating Pixel N’ Brush for social media was a personal and creative project for a Social Media Communications course. Initially, there was so much fear and worry about posting creative content on social media. I was concerned about being consistent, and I eventually decided to do creative projects because I knew I could do that, but coming up with ideas each week seemed daunting. This led to researching gamification for creativity and ideas that could apply to my life as a full-time graphic designer and part-time student. This course taught us how social media has impacted different facets of our lives positively and negatively. I think it was a mostly productive and fun journey, and I will recap what I learned, the challenges I faced, the XP I gained, and why gamifying creativity works.   What I learned I learnt multiple new skills for this

My Sunset Challenge Collaboration with @shaniabeyondthesky_

Recently, I did a collaboration with one of my classmates, Shania (@shaniabeyondthesky_), a weather girl who provides online daily weather forecasts via Instagram and Youtube. We wanted to try combining our interests into content and it became a concept where Art meets Weather. I attempted to do a weather or landscape scene based on some challenges submitted by Shania. Shania provided a list of sunset-themed prompts, and my task was to turn those into a visual interpretation. The list of challenges: Use a photo of a recent sunset, and try to recreate it using only 5-6 colours.  Use a sunset forecast (colours, cloud formations), and create a piece based on the predicted sunset. Given 3-4 colours based on the current or upcoming weather, and must use ONLY those colours in a sunset-themed artwork. I created an Instagram Reel to announce our collaboration and to randomly

Level 2 Completed

After I launched this gamification art project, Pixel N’ Brush, I completed 3 tasks: 1) Easy – Pick one shape and repeat it in different sizes to fill the page (5XP) The 1st challenge was simple to do and a good warm-up for drawing. It was also relaxing to only work with one shape.   2) Medium – Draw an Art Deco-styled lighthouse from Toco (10XP) For the 2nd challenge, it had medium difficulty and it required research for the subject and art style. I created a Pinterest board to help with reference images. The project took almost 2 hours to complete. It might be best to do the Medium and Hard challenges on weekends or once a week.   3) Easy – Colour half of the colouring page using only warm colours and the other half using cool colours (5XP) The colouring challenge was

Level 1 Begins!

Hi! My name is Nyasha. I am a graphic designer based in Trinidad and Tobago. I am embarking on an epic quest to reach Level 50 (500 XP) for my creative journey. There will be weekly creative challenges to level up my creativity, unlock new artistic abilities, and reignite my passion for art. Currently, for my BA in Graphic Design, there is a course called Social Media Communications, where I have to work towards a goal using social media. It took me close to 2 weeks of brainstorming, but I’ve decided to merge my love for art and creativity with the digital world. I want making art to become a regular weekly habit instead of a chore—injecting some fun and uniqueness into my creative process! There will be a mix of nostalgic hobbies and new creative activities. I am inspired by PC games, particularly Stardew Valley
